The 8-8-8 Method

So excited to be working along side @natalieandaddy through Tik Tok, again! They brought this idea to me, and get all of the credit for bringing me to this amazing topic. A topic and way of living that some of us may already be partaking in. So, let’d dive into The 8-8-8 Method.

Some of us may have heard of the 8-8-8 method as a way of manifesting (like I), but no shame to this. At least you’re familiar with the idea. To be more specific the way this method works is by taking your 24 hour day, and splitting it up into three sections. You have your rest and relaxation section, the work section, and the living section. I guarantee a lot of you are reading this wondering, “We only get 12 hours of daylight though.” Or at least that’s what my friend told me when I was telling her about this. My response to this is, coming from a place that would get 5 hours of daylight in the winter, this would’ve saved my life. Keeping me out of a winter “rut” some may say. I know the idea of keeping things productive for 16 hours at a time sounds terrible, but I’ll go into depth about how this can truly change your life, along with how it won’t be as difficult as it sounds.

Let’s get started on the 8 hours of rest and relaxation section first. Personally, I am someone who struggles to sleep in, and go to sleep. I had troubles sleeping, that’s it. Until, I began to find this urge to better myself. I’m not sure exactly why, I fear it was because everyone in San Diego is extremely sexy, but whatever it was, I was motivated. I wanted to start becoming the best version of myself, and work towards my dreams. After taking a step back to do some vigorous research, I realized that everybody who is achieving their goals and bettering mental, and physical health, put their sleep first. So, with more research done, getting 8 hours of sleep like my mom used to tell me is not complete bull shit. We could start by talking about the negative effects of lack of sleep. This can include depression, inflammation, sickness, and (what really got me) was weight gain. I’ve talked about the sensitive topic of weight in a past article, for me personally I am trying to better my body and get to a healthy weight, so when I saw that not getting enough sleep can actually cause my body to gain weight I knew I needed to start going to bed. I know the negative side effects I mentioned may not seem like a big deal, but imagine you’re 25 and sleep 5 hours a night, and it’s been like this for years. Instead of you being much older with physical health issues, you will be turning 26 dealing with them. But, I don’t want to completely scare you. Here are all of the reasons you should be sleeping 8 hours a night. You’re body stays healthy! You maintain a healthy weight, you are likely to reduce your stress levels, which will lead to your mood throughout the following day, you can improve your metabolism, and lessen the likely hood of getting diagnosed with different chronic conditions. There are so many reasons why getting enough sleep is important, and honestly in order for you to have a balanced life that makes you want to participate in the 8-8-8 method, you have be able to have the energy that 8 hours of sleep gives you. With all of that being said, we shall move on.

8 hours of work. I had watched this little video on Tik Tok, unfortunately I cannot remember the creator’s tag right now, but she said that she works for 8 hours a day because it makes her feel like she was productive. It gave her enough time to make money, get something done, and work on her focus. Now, depending on your age, these 8 hours can be spent differently. Are you a college student? Working for 8 hours can include going to classes, completing an assignment, preparing for an upcoming assignment. Obviously, these 8 hours will be spent differently by each and every person. The reason I stand by the idea of working for this time is because it will leave you and I feeling accomplished. When you get back to those 8 hours of sleep, you will know that you finished something that maybe wasn’t due for another 3 days. You will have been prepared for tomorrow and what it holds. It will reduce the stress that could cause you to not get all the IMPORTANT sleep you need. Back to what happens if you work for 8 hours, whether this is spent at a job or at school, it comes back to money. You know you aren’t overworking yourself if you spend this time at a desk, and you’ll be working towards money, and more money. Classes, lectures, assignments, this is you working towards a career. It’s you working towards something that can make you all of the money you need to be not working by the time you’re 40. I wish I had more to say on this topic, other than you need to be self motivated and be working towards a goal to get through this 8 hours. Once you have the goal set up, it’s a piece of cake.

The last 8 hours of the 8-8-8 method. Life. You need to take time to improve your life outside of work and sleep. These 8 hours should include your physical, mental, hobbies, and social. Obviously, that is a lot of things to do in 8 hours. You can split these things up throughout several days. What I personally decide to spend my 8 hours of “life” on is my physical, mental, and hobbies. Like I mentioned earlier, I live in a place that everyone is always working on their physical and I don’t want to be left out. Therefore, I decide to run for about 30 minutes out of day. I also enjoy to use my Class Pass credits, and when I’m done I spend time cooking. I am lucky enough to say part of my “work” is this blog! Which is also my hobby, so I got pretty lucky in that department. None the less, use this time to have some fun. In one of my previous articles I talked about “Dream Girl Hobbies” and honestly, you can fill your time doing things I listed there! That can include pilates, getting a coffee with some friends, hosting a dinner. There are so many options. Just make sure that you do something that will leave you feeling fulfilled, because honestly, you’ll get tired of taking time to sleep and work if you aren’t having any fun on the outside of it. If I need to convince you anymore to get out and do something, here are some benefits. It will help you focus when you need to, After training your focus through the work hours, in order to focus again, you need to let go in the life hours. Along with pursuing hobbies and bettering your mental health. You get to improve on drawing, or painting even. It gives you time to just have some fun and “do you” truly. There are no negatives to using this 8 hours to its full extent.

I am so happy that you decided to give this method a try, because honestly after finding out the ways it can help you live to the fullest, I don’t know why you wouldn’t want to. This method will help maintain a good mood, reduce stress, keep you active, keep you focused, and keep you achieving your goals and I am so excited for all of you.
