Dream Girl Hobbies
Honestly, I want to start this off by saying… Fuck the trends. A few questions for you: Do you really like pilates? Do you actually like the taste of matcha? And finally, what are your opinions on running? I won’t lie, I have fallen victim to all of these It Girl activities, and I love them, but does everyone? I want to make it clear you don’t have to do what everyone else is doing to be happy. Nonetheless, let’s officially get into the topic of “Dream Girl Hobbies".
I know all of us follow that one influencer that we love. We long to have the life like theirs, but what is it about her that we are drawn to? Is it where she lives, or how she does her hair? If I’m going to take a guess, it is just what she does to fill her time. Cute dinners with her friends, road trips, sunsets on the beach, and maybe a run, then pilates every other day. Let’s not get talking about her cute matches in the morning. Listen, I love that girl! Clean girl by day, party girl by night. All around “clean girl”? Just a “party girl”? There are so many different influencers that we watch because of their full life. Their curated lives. How can we have a full life like that? Truth is, it’s easier than it sounds. This lifestyle doesn’t lie in the latest trends or following a celebrity. It lies in balancing five main areas of life. Your social, intellectual, creativity, physical, and wellness.
The first thing is the social aspect of your life. What do you do with your friends right now that makes you feel like your lacking? Are you guys laying on your phone together, watching movies, maybe taking a walk? All of those things can be romanticized. I mean you can romanticize anything in your life if you really want to, but what are some more fulfilling options you have? Do you live alone, host a dinner party! This is always my go-to. Making some pasta for my girls and maybe opening up a couple bottles of wine. You can always attend a theater performance. Truly, this is not only fun and supportive of local theaters, but it is adorable! You get to sit in red, velvet seats, get a program, and you can always get dressed up. Very Instagram worthy. A couple of more relaxed and more effortless options would be to go grab a coffee, or one a matcha if you’re into that. Following a coffee, a brunch. Whenever I go get brunch with my girls, I love to get dressed up and bottomless mimosas. Lastly, a museum. There are so many free days to go tour a museum if you’re trying to be budget friendly. Not only can you take photos with the art, but get to see different perspectives. It opens your views to something you maybe never thought of before.
This leads us into the intellectual section of the day. The hottest thing I think I could imagine anyone doing is learning a new language. This is an elegant way to stimulate the brain. I mean, Duolingo is free right? You can take as little or as much time out of your day for this. Imagine putting 20 minutes a day into learning french, you would be fluent in the following 12 months! I think. Another option (one that I prefer) is reading. I love to read, and it also opens up the opportunity to join a book club. That could play into the social aspect of your hobbies. Anyways, reading a good book is always relaxing and builds your vocabulary. Following reading, you can write. You could write a book for others to read, or just a daily diary so maybe one day you can look back and see what kind of days you lived in 2024. The thing about the intellectual hobby is if you don’t choose one that you actually enjoy, you’ll get burnt out. It’ll turn you away from this section forever! That may be over dramatic, but really. Choose an intellectual hobby that is suiting for you. This can include playing an instrument, solving puzzles, picking up a new online course!
Here is my favorite part, creativity. Hobby’s labeled under creativity are so fun and so telling about a person. If you love to paint, paint! After you paint, be confident and post that portrait, or the dirty paintbrushes to show off how artistic you are. One thing that would fall under the elegant category is sculpting. You know, what you see in the movies? This screams chic. If you maybe live somewhere cold, get into knitting. If you live somewhere warm (like I do), knit a bikini cover up. Then, when someone asks, “Where did you get that? It is perfect.” You can say you made it. That would be a confidence booster and a half. One of my top picks for creativity is baking. I just made sugar cookies tonight. Let me know if you want the recipe…
The last two are going to be the most important two category’s that really throw this whole balancing act into a true lifestyle. One that is Pinterest worthy. Your physical and emotional well-being. I believe that if you can, spend the most time on these because it truly benefits you and your body. It keeps you strong, healthy, and aesthetic. We’ll start with the physical. Pick up a sport, babe. This could be running a mile a day, or maybe finding a tennis partner to play with for a few hours out of the week. Making sure that you are in shape is important. While running, take a few sunset pics, maybe with you in one or two. If you decide to go for a hike, vlog it. Show what the view is like on top! I love to do yoga, and the mirrors they have in there are always so aesthetically pleasing. That applies to pilates as well. There are so many fun ways for you to get out there and move, including dancing. Turn into the next Baby from Dirty Dancing. You never know.
Next, and last step in finding your hobbies, self-care. This is easy. Who doesn’t love to spend a little time alone pretending to be a princess? You don't have to spend hours on this a day, just 10 minutes. Do a fast mask, maybe curl your hair. You can add onto the amount of physical activity you're doing and go for a walk. Spend the day going to a spa maybe! One of my favorites is a cold plunge and sauna combo. This section is tailored for what your body is calling to you after filling your day to the brim. I do believe though, in order to do everything I said above CONSISTENTLY, you have to make sure your mind is still where it needs to be.
Now that there are so many options for you to choose from, I hope you’ve thought a little bit more about what you can do throughout your day to be living the It Girl life. Maybe you’ve already built an entire routine. I wish you the best of luck.
